Stairs Too Close To Front Door
The new stairs will have balusters so it should feel open.
Stairs too close to front door. In the case of a big foyer. A lot of pictures we see and other homes have landings 2x that size if they are near the front door. It is best to draw the attention up rather than down to uplift your chi when entering your home. The gravity force of chi energy coming down the stairs is greater than the incoming chi from the door.
Last house the stairs were about 6 7 feet from the door but when you entered you looked directly at the balusters that were on the landing of the turned stairs. In the case of a big foyer with a staircase further from the door the energy can settle in and nourish the space gradually and harmoniously finding its way to other areas of the house. You can do this with a piece of artwork and or lighting. We plan on moving the front door to the security door location returning the entry to inside the house.
Our main concern is a small 3x3 landing so close to the front door swing. Stairs open a path that draws our attention. Our steps are diagonally offset so when you open the door you actually face into a foyer hallway. I would place the focal point on that wall going up the stairs.
Here is the problem as it relates to feng shui. Bad feng shei or something. If you use the left door shown in this photo your gaze naturally goes to the right wall. The feng shui case of a big foyer with many grounding architectural features and the staircase far from the front door will be very different from a feng shui case of a small foyer with stairs closely facing the main door.
In the 1 000 plus years of asian feng shui practices an internal staircase in a two story home that faces the front door creates an energy battle right where you don t want it. They cut away the foundation to make the inset area lower than the floor but it slants towards the front door making a big puddle when it rains when you open the front door it partially covers the kitchen doorway. Others claim that money will roll down the stairway and straight out of the door. Some feng shui experts warn that if a stairway faces the front door you will experience many ups and downs in your life.
Originally the stairs which descended from the main floor to a daylight basement were accessed through a doorway off the kitchen and the entire staircase was walled in.
